Chapter 12 - Bianca Releases Eight SecondsThe video appeared online at 7:12 a.m.

Eight seconds.

Sienna grabbing Bianca.

Sienna’s hand moving.

Bianca’s head snapping sideways.

Sienna shouting.

Nothing before.

Nothing after.

No Nolan.

No porridge.

No Malcolm.

By eight o’clock, an entertainment gossip account had posted it.

By nine, a business reporter had emailed Everline.

Does this footage show Sienna Vale assaulting her former husband’s current wife immediately before suspending financing to Westbridge Development?

Jonah entered Sienna’s office carrying his phone.

“Do not open social media.”

“Too late.”

“It’s ugly.”

“Let it be ugly.”

“We need to respond.”

“We will.”

“How?”

“With facts.”

He stared at her.

“You keep saying that.”

“Because facts are still useful.”

Everline issued a short statement.

The financing review concerned contractual compliance and predated any public disclosure regarding the family matter.

Everline would not discuss a minor child.

Sienna would not comment on private custody proceedings.

Nothing more.

Claire supported the decision.

“You do not release the full video publicly.”

“I know.”

“Even to defend yourself.”

“I know.”

“Nolan deserves privacy.”

“I know.”

Sienna’s voice broke on the third repetition.

Claire softened.

“You’re allowed to hate this.”

“I do.”

“Good.”

“I just hate that protecting him makes me look guilty.”

“Sometimes responsible choices are terrible public relations.”

Across town, Bianca watched the clip spread.

Malcolm stormed into the bedroom.

“You released that?”

“Someone did.”

“Don’t.”

She looked up from her phone.

“Excuse me?”

“Don’t lie to me again.”

Bianca smiled.

“You spent years complaining that Sienna always controls the narrative.”

“That clip removes Nolan.”

“Exactly.”

Malcolm stared.

“You used my son’s privacy to make yourself look like the victim.”

“I protected him.”

“By leaking footage from the morning he was hurt?”

“He isn’t visible.”

“That isn’t the point.”

Bianca stood.

“You want to know the point? She took your financing. She took your custody. She’s digging through our accounts. And you’re sitting in therapy confessing your feelings.”

Malcolm’s eyes narrowed.

“How do you know I’m in therapy?”

She realized her mistake.

His expression changed.

“You went through my calendar.”

“We are married.”

“No.”

He stepped closer.

“You keep using that word like it means you own everything I don’t tell you.”

Her mouth tightened.

Malcolm held out his hand.

“Your phone.”

She laughed.

“No.”

“Then get out.”

Silence.

“You’re throwing me out of my house?”

“Is it your house?”

The words landed cruelly.

Bianca’s face changed.

Malcolm regretted them instantly.

But he did not take them back.

She walked past him.

At the doorway she stopped.

“You think Sienna will respect you for turning on me?”

“This is not about Sienna.”

“Everything is about Sienna with you.”

“No.”

Malcolm looked toward the hallway.

“For the first time, this is about Nolan.”

Bianca laughed softly.

“You’re late.”

Then she left.

At Everline, the leaked clip triggered another consequence.

One institutional co-investor requested an urgent call.

Sienna joined with Jonah and counsel.

The investor’s representative spoke carefully.

“We are not adjudicating your personal life.”

“Good.”

“But reputation risk matters.”

“I understand.”

“Can you assure us the financing suspension was not retaliation?”

“Yes.”

“How?”

Jonah presented the audit chronology.

Automated compliance flags had been generated within minutes of suspension because the review protocol swept existing vendor data.

More importantly, the authority to suspend rested on identified contract issues that could be evaluated independently.

Then counsel disclosed under confidentiality that a preserved full recording existed and had been submitted in a custody proceeding.

The investor did not ask to see Nolan.

He asked only:

“Does the complete footage materially alter the context of the eight-second clip?”

Sienna answered.

“Yes.”

The investor paused.

“Then we will wait for the audit.”

After the call, Jonah exhaled.

“One fire out.”

“No.”

Sienna looked at the city below.

“Contained.”

Her phone buzzed.

Claire.

“Bianca’s lawyer contacted me.”

“About what?”

“She wants a settlement.”

Sienna frowned.

“Custody?”

“No. She isn’t a parent.”

“Business?”

“Partly.”

“What does she want?”

“Confidential release of certain civil claims involving Larkspur.”

“In exchange for?”

Claire hesitated.

“Documents.”

“What documents?”

“She claims Malcolm instructed her to structure invoices below internal review thresholds and conceal the Calder Ridge term sheet during your divorce.”

Sienna became still.

“Does she have proof?”

“She says she has text messages.”

Sienna thought of Malcolm’s warning.

Bianca kept copies of everything.

“What does she want?”

“Money. Release. Confidentiality.”

“How much?”

“Two million dollars.”

Sienna almost laughed.

“She wants me to pay her two million dollars for evidence that she and Malcolm may have deceived me?”

“That is one interpretation.”

“My answer is no.”

“I assumed.”

“Tell her to preserve everything.”

“We already did.”

“And tell her if she destroys records after receiving legal notice, she creates a different kind of problem.”

“I will phrase it more politely.”

“Why?”

Claire laughed despite herself.

Then her voice became serious.

“There’s something else.”

“What?”

“The text sample she attached.”

Sienna’s stomach tightened.

“What does Malcolm say?”

Claire read it.

Keep everything under fifty. Sienna’s committee only sees the big stuff. Once Boston closes, we won’t need her money anymore.

Sienna closed her eyes.

“Date?”

“Eleven months ago.”

Long after the divorce.

Long after Malcolm had sworn to her that their business relationship was independent of their personal history.

Sienna opened her eyes.

The leaked eight-second clip no longer mattered.

May you like

Because Bianca had just produced thirteen words that could cost Malcolm far more than public embarrassment.

They could cost him his company.
