Chapter 18 - Margaret Stopped Watching

The new camera system went live in August.
Elena received family access.
Margaret did not.
She could have.
Elena offered.
“You sure?”
Margaret stared at the invitation email.
A year ago she would have accepted instantly.
“Maybe not.”
Elena looked surprised.
“You love checking.”
“I loved believing checking meant control.”
“That sounds dramatic.”
“It probably is.”
Margaret declined access.
Not because cameras were bad.
Because Logan’s safety should not depend on one grandmother monitoring a screen during meetings.
The school needed systems.
Staff.
Reporting.
Independent oversight.
Elena asked:
“What if something happens?”
