Chapter 3 - THE PUSH ON THE MARBLE FLOORSecurity arrived within a minute.

Two officers separated us.

The older officer asked whether I needed medical assistance.

“Not at the moment.”

Marcus answered before the officer could ask anything else.

“This individual crossed the barrier and attempted to touch the Porsche.”

“I did not cross the rope.”

“He became aggressive when instructed to leave.”

The woman in the white dress stepped forward.

“That’s false.”

She showed the officer her recording.

The video began before Marcus pushed me.

My hands were visible.

I had not touched him.

I had not crossed the barrier.

Marcus watched the footage.

His face tightened.

“That angle doesn’t show what he was doing before.”

The officer pointed toward the ceiling.

“The venue camera will.”

I repeated my request.

“Please preserve the full recording.”

The officer nodded.

“I’ll notify control.”

Marcus attempted to interrupt.

The officer stopped him.

“Mr. Reed, let us handle this.”

A gala coordinator arrived.

She looked worried.

The event was twenty minutes from its scheduled opening presentation.

Hundreds of wealthy guests were watching an employee argue with a teenager beside the primary display.

“Can we move this conversation into a private office?” she asked.

“Yes,” I said.

Marcus said, “He needs to be removed.”

The coordinator looked at the witness’s phone.

“That decision will follow the video review.”

Marcus lowered his voice.

“You don’t know who this kid is.”

The coordinator replied, “Neither do you.”

We entered a glass conference room overlooking the gala floor.

I removed the backpack and placed it on the table.

The security officer recorded our names.

“Adrian Vale,” I said.

The coordinator’s pen stopped.

“Vale?”

“Yes.”

“Related to the Vale Automotive Trust?”

“I’m its acting trustee.”

Marcus laughed.

“He’s eighteen.”

The coordinator looked at me.

“How old are you?”

“Eighteen.”

Marcus spread his hands.

“There.”

I opened the backpack.

Inside were insurance certificates, transportation schedules, trust documents, vehicle condition reports, and the original loan agreement.

I placed my identification beside them.

The coordinator read the first page.

Her expression changed.

ADRIAN JAMES VALE

ACTING TRUSTEE AND BENEFICIAL OWNER

Marcus leaned closer.

“It could be printed by anyone.”

“That is why the verification number is included.”

The coordinator called the trust’s attorney using the number listed on the official public registry.

My attorney confirmed my identity.

Marcus said nothing.

I opened the gala agreement.

“Five Vale Collection vehicles are due to arrive at seven thirty.”

The coordinator checked the clock.

Seven twenty-two.

“The Lamborghini, Bugatti, McLaren, Koenigsegg, and Pagani,” I continued. “They are on loan for tonight’s scholarship auction.”

Her eyes widened.

“We’ve been expecting them.”

“The transport team is waiting at the south delivery entrance.”

“Why?”

“Mr. Reed’s office refused entry because the lead driver could not confirm who was authorized to receive them.”

The coordinator looked at Marcus.

He avoided her eyes.

I removed my phone.

Then I called the transport supervisor.

“It’s Adrian.”

“Are we cleared?”

“Yes.”

May you like

I looked through the glass at Marcus.

“Bring them here.”
