# THE DIAMOND RING OF PALM BEACH

## Chapter 3: The Woman Who Never Died

The leather folder felt heavier than it should have.

At least, that was what Richard Harrison thought as he held it in his
hands.

It was only a folder.

Old.

Worn.

Covered in dust.

But somehow...

It felt like he was holding a piece of his past.

A past he had spent fifteen years trying to forget.

Everyone stood around the broken display cabinet in silence.

The storm outside continued to attack the mansion.

The wind shook the windows.

The thunder sounded like an approaching warning.

But inside the Harrison estate...

Nobody cared about the storm anymore.

Because the real danger was standing among them.

Richard slowly looked at his wife.

"Eleanor."

She didn't answer.

Her eyes were fixed on the folder.

"Open it."

Eleanor's face tightened.

"No."

Everyone turned toward her.

The answer came too quickly.

Too desperately.

Richard's expression changed.

For fifty years, he had known his wife.

He knew every expression.

Every movement.

Every lie.

And right now...

Eleanor Harrison was afraid.

Not confused.

Not surprised.

Afraid.

"What are you hiding?"

Richard asked.

Eleanor looked at him.

"Richard, please."

Those three words shocked everyone.

Because Eleanor Harrison never begged.

Not in business.

Not in life.

Not even when her husband was fighting cancer ten years earlier.

But tonight...

She was begging.

---

Ryan stepped forward.

"Father, maybe we should stop."

Everyone looked at him.

Richard's eyes narrowed.

"Why?"

Ryan hesitated.

"I just think there are things that should stay buried."

The room became colder.

Richard stared at his youngest son.

"You knew about this?"

Ryan looked away.

That was enough.

Michael immediately stepped forward.

"You knew?"

Ryan didn't answer.

"Ryan!"

Michael shouted.

The two brothers had always been different.

Michael was responsible.

The businessman.

The son their father trusted.

Ryan was the opposite.

The dreamer.

The gambler.

The son everyone protected.

But now...

Michael looked at him like a stranger.

"You knew something about Sarah Carter?"

Ryan swallowed.

"I heard rumors."

"What rumors?"

Ryan looked at Eleanor.

Then said quietly:

"That she didn't leave."

Nobody moved.

Richard's voice became low.

"Explain."

Ryan looked uncomfortable.

"Fifteen years ago, everyone believed Sarah moved away after her
husband died."

Emily immediately shook her head.

"My mother didn't leave."

Ryan looked at her.

"I know."

Emily froze.

"You know?"

Ryan nodded.

"Because I saw her."

The room exploded.

Emily stepped forward.

"When?"

Ryan looked at the floor.

"Two weeks after everyone said she disappeared."

Richard's eyes widened.

"Where?"

Ryan hesitated.

"At the old Harrison guest house."

---

The old Harrison guest house.

Nobody had used that place in years.

It sat behind the main mansion, hidden among tall palm trees.

A place that most employees didn't even know existed.

Richard looked at Eleanor.

"You told me the guest house was empty."

Eleanor said nothing.

The silence was becoming unbearable.

Emily's voice trembled.

"My mother was there?"

Ryan nodded.

"Yes."

"Alive?"

Ryan looked at her.

"Yes."

Emily covered her mouth.

Tears filled her eyes.

For fifteen years...

She believed her mother was dead.

Or worse...

That her mother had abandoned her.

And now...

She discovered someone in this mansion knew the truth.

Someone had kept that secret from her.

"Why?"

Emily whispered.

"Why would everyone lie?"

Nobody answered.

Because the answer was hidden inside that folder.

---

Richard opened it.

Inside were documents.

Old photographs.

Letters.

Bank records.

And one handwritten note.

The handwriting was Eleanor's.

Richard recognized it immediately.

He looked at his wife.

"You wrote this."

Eleanor closed her eyes.

"Yes."

Richard unfolded the paper.

The room became silent as he read.

The note said:

"If anything happens to me, the truth must be revealed. The Harrison
family cannot continue hiding what happened to Sarah."

Richard looked up.

"What does this mean?"

Eleanor sat down slowly.

For the first time in decades...

The powerful Eleanor Harrison looked fragile.

"Sarah discovered something."

"What?"

Eleanor looked at Ryan.

Then Michael.

Then Olivia.

Finally, she looked at Emily.

"She discovered someone was stealing from the Harrison
Foundation."

Everyone froze.

The Harrison Foundation was the family's biggest charity
organization.

It provided scholarships, medical support, and housing assistance across
Florida.

It was the one thing the Harrison family was proudest of.

Richard frowned.

"Impossible."

Eleanor shook her head.

"No."

Her voice became painful.

"Someone inside our family was taking money."

The room became chaos.

"Who?"

Michael asked.

Eleanor looked away.

"I never found out."

Richard stared at her.

"But Sarah did."

---

The truth slowly began to appear.

Fifteen years ago...

Sarah Carter was not just Eleanor's assistant.

She was her closest friend.

Sarah had worked beside Eleanor for twenty years.

She knew everything about the Harrison Foundation.

The donations.

The accounts.

The investments.

And one day...

She found something strange.

Millions of dollars were disappearing.

Money was being transferred through hidden companies.

Someone was stealing from the charity.

Sarah investigated.

And when she discovered the person responsible...

She disappeared.

Everyone believed she ran away.

But the truth was different.

She had been trying to protect herself.

Because the person who stole the money...

Was someone powerful enough to destroy her.

---

"Who?"

Richard asked.

"Who was it?"

Eleanor looked terrified.

"I don't know."

Nobody believed her.

Richard laughed bitterly.

"You expect me to believe you don't know?"

Eleanor looked at him.

"I knew Sarah found something."

"Then why didn't you help her?"

Eleanor's eyes filled with tears.

"Because I was afraid."

The confession shocked everyone.

Richard stepped back.

"Afraid of who?"

Before Eleanor could answer...

A sound came from upstairs.

A door closing.

Everyone turned.

Someone was inside the mansion.

Someone else.

Richard immediately moved.

"Stay here."

Michael followed him.

Ryan followed too.

But Max was faster.

The old golden retriever ran upstairs.

Barking.

They chased after him.

At the end of the hallway...

Max stopped.

Outside Olivia's bedroom.

The dog scratched the door.

Olivia looked confused.

"Why my room?"

Richard opened the door.

Inside...

Everything appeared normal.

Until Max walked toward Olivia's closet.

He sniffed the bottom drawer.

Then scratched.

Richard opened it.

Inside were clothes.

Jewelry.

Designer handbags.

Nothing unusual.

Then Max pushed his nose behind the drawer.

Something fell.

A small metal key.

Nobody recognized it.

Except Eleanor.

The moment she saw it...

Her face changed.

"Where did you get that?"

Richard looked at her.

"You know this key?"

Eleanor didn't answer.

Because she knew exactly what it opened.

A place hidden for fifteen years.

A place only three people knew existed.

The old Harrison family vault.

---

Richard picked up the key.

"Olivia."

His daughter looked terrified.

"I don't know why it's there."

Nobody believed her.

Richard turned to Ryan.

"Your sister's room."

Ryan looked confused.

"What?"

"The ring was found in your pocket."

Richard's voice became cold.

"Now a secret key was found in Olivia's room."

He looked around.

"Someone is moving pieces on this board."

Nobody understood.

But Richard did.

This wasn't a simple theft.

Someone was creating a war inside the Harrison family.

Someone wanted them to destroy each other.

---

Later that night...

At exactly 1:13 a.m.

While everyone argued downstairs...

Someone entered the abandoned guest house.

The person carried a flashlight.

Slowly walking through the dusty rooms.

They stopped in front of an old wooden cabinet.

They opened it.

Behind a false wall...

Was a hidden compartment.

Inside was a photograph.

The same photograph found in Eleanor's bedroom.

But this one was newer.

The person in the photo was Sarah Carter.

Standing beside another person.

A person everyone thought was dead.

The intruder smiled.

"Fifteen years..."

They whispered.

"You should have stayed hidden."

Then they opened another envelope.

Inside was a DNA test report.

The result was clear.

A secret that could destroy the Harrison family forever.

The person looked at the paper.

And smiled.

"Now everyone will know..."

"The real Harrison heir."

---

Back inside the mansion...

Max suddenly woke up.

The dog lifted his head.

He looked toward the guest house.

And started growling.

Because Max remembered something from fifteen years ago.

Something everyone else had forgotten.

The night Sarah Carter disappeared...

Max was there.

And he had seen who took her away.
