Chapter 22 - Kelsey’s Anger ChangesKelsey thought anger would disappear.

It didn’t.
It changed.
Years later, when she saw footage of a toddler near stairs online, her body still reacted.
When someone said “babies fall,” she felt heat rise.
But Adrienne no longer occupied the center of the feeling.
Therapy taught Kelsey something she initially hated:
Anger could remain without requiring action.
One afternoon Milo fell off his bicycle.
Minor scrape.
He cried.
Adrienne was nearby.
She ran first.
Kelsey followed.
Adrienne stopped before touching him.
“Milo?”
He reached for her.
She picked him up.
Kelsey arrived.
“You okay?”
He nodded.
Adrienne looked at Kelsey.
For a second, both remembered.
Then Milo said:
“I’m bleeding!”
Tiny scrape.
Travis arrived dramatically with a first-aid kit.
“Emergency!”
Milo laughed.
The moment passed.
Later Adrienne asked:
“Did that bother you?”
“A little.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize for helping him.”
Adrienne blinked.
Kelsey continued:
“That’s the point.”

A small sentence.
A huge distance traveled.
