Chapter 10 - THE HIDDEN COMPANY

The warehouse contained another secret.

Adrian discovered a set of incorporation documents for a company called Sterling Foundation Holdings.

He had never heard of it.

According to the documents, the company controlled several major assets.

Hotels.

Commercial properties.

Investment funds.

Private equity positions.

The total value exceeded five billion dollars.

Adrian stared at the number.

His father had never mentioned this company.

Why?

He searched the corporate records.

Richard was not listed as the sole owner.

Another name appeared.

Eleanor Sterling.

Adrian's late mother.

His breath caught.

His mother had died when he was nineteen.

She had always seemed distant from the family's business.

At least, that was what Adrian believed.

He searched deeper.

He found an old letter from Eleanor.

“Richard,

If Adrian ever becomes obsessed with the money, don't give him the company.

Give him the opportunity to become worthy of it.”

Adrian sat down.

His mother had known.

She had apparently discussed his future with Richard long before her death.

But why had no one told him?

He continued searching.

Another document appeared.

A confidential family agreement.

It revealed something even more surprising.

The fortune had never belonged entirely to Richard.

Much of it had been placed into a protected foundation created by Eleanor.

The money could not simply be handed to Adrian.

It could only be transferred under specific conditions.

Adrian read the conditions.

Leadership.

Responsibility.

Philanthropy.

Financial independence.

And one final requirement.

“Beneficiary must demonstrate the ability to reject personal luxury when it conflicts with family responsibility.”

Adrian laughed bitterly.

The irony was brutal.

The supercar had become the perfect test.

He closed the file.

Then his phone rang.

Richard.

Adrian stared at the screen.

He didn't answer.

For years, Adrian had demanded explanations.

Now he finally had one.

But there were still pieces missing.

And one question remained.
