Richard's breathing became frantic.
He knew there was no escape.
Police sirens echoed faintly in the distance.
Someone had already called them.
Richard suddenly pointed the revolver toward Damian.

Grace's small voice echoed from outside the cabin.
"Mom!"
Richard instinctively turned toward the sound.
Sophia reacted instantly.
She drove her shoulder into Richard's chest.
The revolver fired.
The bullet shattered a cabin window instead of hitting anyone.
Owen tackled Richard to the floor.
The weapon slid across the wooden boards.
Two guards immediately restrained him.
Richard struggled wildly.
"It's my family!"
Damian picked up the revolver.
He removed every bullet.
Then quietly placed the empty weapon on the table.
He looked down at Richard.
"You confused possession..."
"...with love."
Richard stopped fighting.
