# The Girl Who Ran Into the Mafia
## Chapter 8 — Owen Finds the First Clue
Near midnight, Owen's phone finally rang.
One of Moretti's investigators had discovered something unusual.
A small gas station outside the city had security footage from two nights earlier.
Richard Whitmore appeared on camera.
He wasn't alone.
A frightened woman sat in the passenger seat.
Her face was partially hidden.
But around her neck...
Hung the same style of silver necklace Grace carried.
Owen immediately drove to the station.
He reviewed every frame.
When the woman briefly turned toward the camera...
His heart skipped.
Sophia Bennett.
Older.
Thinner.
But unmistakably the same woman from Damian's photograph.
Owen called Damian immediately.
"Boss."
"I found her."
Damian closed his eyes.
"Is she alive?"
"Yes."
"But she's still with Richard."
Owen enlarged another frame.
Behind the vehicle stood a wooden road sign.
**Blackwood Forest – 18 Miles.**
Damian looked toward the city skyline outside the restaurant windows.
"Prepare every vehicle."
"We're moving tonight."
