Chapter 6 - The Video Goes PublicBy midnight, the video was online.

At first, it was only a short clip posted by a diner who had recorded the chaos from across the room. The caption was dramatic and careless:
“Crazy restaurant worker grabs rich man’s choking kid. Dad loses it.”
The clip spread quickly.
Some people praised Caleb.
Others argued.
A few blamed Nathan for panicking. Others defended him, saying any father would react badly if a stranger rushed toward his child.
But then another video appeared.
This one showed the moment more clearly.
Oliver choking.
The crowd hesitating.
Caleb running.
Nathan trying to pull him away.
Oliver breathing again.
And Caleb showing the photo of his brother.
The comment section changed.
That worker saved him.
Why was everyone recording?
The dad should apologize.
That kid is alive because someone acted.
By morning, The Sterling Room’s social media pages were flooded with messages.
“Did you fire the employee who saved a child?”
“Give Caleb his job back.”
“Your manager should be ashamed.”
Reporters began calling.
Mr. Bell arrived at the restaurant early, sweating through his collar.
The owner, Evelyn Hart, arrived an hour later.
She was not like Mr. Bell. She was calm, sharp, and difficult to impress. She had built The Sterling Room from a failing dining hall into one of the most respected restaurants in the city.
When she walked into the office, Mr. Bell stood immediately.
“Ms. Hart, I can explain.”
“I hope so,” she said.
He began talking quickly. Liability. Guest complaints. Unauthorized staff conduct. Reputation risk.
Evelyn listened without expression.
Then she placed a tablet on the desk and played the video.
They watched in silence.
At the moment Oliver began breathing again, Evelyn paused the screen.
“Where is Caleb Reed?”
Mr. Bell swallowed.
“I suspended him.”
Evelyn stared at him.
“You suspended an employee for saving a child in my restaurant?”
“He left his station.”
“A child was choking.”
“He is not medical staff.”
“He was the only person in that room acting like one.”
Mr. Bell said nothing.
Evelyn leaned back.
“Pull the full security footage.”
His eyes widened.
May you like
“All of it?”
“All of it,” she said. “From the moment the family sat down.”
