Chapter 21 - THE NIGHT AMELIA TRIED TO ESCAPEThe final recording from Amelia’s device was made on the night before her crash.

She had packed a small bag.
Not for herself.
For Lily.
She planned to take our daughter to my sister’s house in Oregon while she confronted the trust.
Why did she not tell me?
I was in London negotiating a major project.
She feared messages were being monitored.
She intended to meet me there afterward.
Vivian intercepted her at the garage.
A neighbor’s camera captured the two women arguing.
Amelia placed Lily back inside the house with a babysitter.
Then drove away alone.
Vivian followed in another car.
Hours later, Amelia crashed.
Vivian arrived at the hospital before police contacted me.
She introduced herself as Amelia’s sister for medical access.
Later, she told me she was an old friend.
The hospital records preserved the original statement.
She changed her identity depending on which door she needed opened.
A traffic camera placed Vivian’s car several minutes behind Amelia’s.
No footage showed direct contact.
But phone data revealed repeated calls.
One audio fragment was recovered from Amelia’s vehicle system.
Vivian’s voice said:
“Pull over. We can solve this.”
Amelia answered:
“You are never taking Lily.”
The call ended four minutes before the crash.
Prosecutors concluded Vivian’s conspiracy contributed directly to the events surrounding Amelia’s death and subsequent concealment.
The exact mechanical cause remained disputed.
Vivian eventually accepted a plea resolving multiple charges, including those connected to the crash, the forged guardianship, and Lily’s attempted removal.
