Chapter 23 - THE MONEY TRAILForensic accountants map:

Adrian’s advisory firm,

Northstar vendor,

Lenora’s marketing LLC,

Cayman fund,

private wellness investment,

trust reserve.

Lenora had received $180k indirect.

Adrian expected much more.

His firm had similar schemes with 5 other trusts, mostly elderly clients.

Federal case.

Lenora cooperates, helps identify.

Her plea:

conspiracy to commit wire fraud,

false imprisonment/endangering child at state level,

possibly falsifying records.

She pleads guilty.

Sentence realistic:

18 months federal custody concurrent/partially consecutive? Could be. Let's say 22 months total custody followed by supervised release, financial restitution, prohibition from fiduciary roles, mandatory counseling. Adrian gets 6.5 years due broader scheme and leadership. Some counts.

Lenora not instantly jailed; sentencing later.

She gives allocution:

“I told myself the room was discipline. It became a place where I put a child because I was afraid of what he knew.”

“I told myself money transfer was temporary. Fraud doesn’t become less fraudulent because you plan to put it back.”

“I loved Emmett and still harmed him.”

This line strong.

Roland attends? Maybe not. He reads transcript.

Emmett does not.

No need.
