Rewind to the days before the accusation.
Richard had noticed several payments from a Cole family investment account.
The amounts were small enough individually to avoid attention.
Together, they were enormous.
They all went to:
ASTER ROW CONSULTING LLC.
Richard could find no legitimate work performed by the company.
Then he discovered something worse.
Several approvals appeared to contain Daniel's authorization.
But Daniel had been out of the country on one of those dates.
Richard quietly began investigating.
That afternoon Vanessa unexpectedly saw the documents.
She asked what they were.
Richard did not accuse her.
He simply said:
“Daniel and I are going to have a conversation tonight.”
For one second, Vanessa's face changed.
Richard noticed it.
But he did not yet understand why.
