Helen finds the second button several feet away.
She does not immediately decide they prove anything.
They could support Vanessa's story.
But something about their placement bothers her.
Both buttons are intact.
Neither is cracked.
And Helen remembers something from the moment she entered the room:
Vanessa had been holding the front of her blouse before Daniel even reached her.
Helen hides the buttons rather than confronting anyone.
