Chapter 16 - THE GLASSForensics improved the timeline.

The bedroom glass contained traces of the additional medication.

The same formulation found in Leonard’s hidden bottle.

Nora had brought the glass upstairs clean.

Kitchen surveillance showed it empty except water when she placed it on the tray.

Before Nora carried it upstairs, she left the tray in the service pantry for ninety seconds while retrieving napkins.

During that gap, Leonard entered.

Camera angle did not show his hands clearly.

But he stood over the tray for twenty-three seconds.

Then left.

Nora returned.

Carried it upstairs.

Amelia later drank from it.

That was the physical act.

Still, Leonard claimed he merely moved the glass.

Then investigators found residue on a small metal pill crusher in his office desk.

Same medication.

Leonard’s fingerprints.

No medical reason for him to possess it.

His defense collapsed.

He changed strategy.

Marianne told him to do it.

He claimed she said the medication would only make Amelia sleep through the lawyer meeting.

Not kill her.

“Did you know she was pregnant?”

“Yes.”

“Did you know it was not prescribed?”

“Yes.”

“Did you know Dr. Voss told you not to give more?”

Silence.

“Yes.”

“Then why?”

Leonard began crying.

“Because I thought Marianne knew what she was doing.”

Harrison watched from another room.

That sentence enraged him.

Adults handing morality upward.

She told me.

He told me.

The doctor said.

The manager said.

The husband said.

No one owned the decision until Amelia died.

Leonard had administered the additional medication.

Marianne had orchestrated.

Voss had enabled.

Julian had covered up.

Dean and Marcus had confined Nora.

Different responsibility.

May you like

Different consequence.

Truth finally had structure.
