Chapter 12 - THE FILE MARKED A.V.The court authorized forensic preservation of Celeste’s devices.

The A.V. folder was accessed under strict process.
Adrian did not personally watch anything.
He did not need to.
His attorney told him:
“There are recordings of private moments you did not appear aware were being recorded.”
Adrian closed eyes.
“How many?”
“Several.”
“Any involving Noah?”
“No.”
Relief.
Then anger.
“Did she threaten distribution?”
Not yet directly.
But file existed.
Dates ranged from early in their relationship to two months before engagement.
Meaning Celeste began recording him long before gambling crisis was publicly exposed.
Was it always insurance?
Maybe.
She had built habit before Adrian.
Then Celeste called him from unknown number.
He answered because attorney instructed documenting direct contact.
“Adrian.”
He recognized voice.
“You’re violating counsel instructions.”
“I wanted to hear you.”
“Why?”
“To remind you what you stand to lose.”
He stayed silent.
Celeste continued:
“You think Vivian Whitmore is brave?”
“You think Charles is brave?”
“They’re humiliated.”
“You’re next.”
Adrian said:
“If you release private recordings, that will be your decision.”
She laughed.
“You don’t care?”
“I care.”
“Then pay your own debts.”
“No.”
Silence.
Celeste’s voice changed.
“You’re going to let strangers see us?”
“You recorded me without my knowledge.”
“Don’t pretend you were innocent.”
“I’m not.”
“You were in relationship with me.”
“That is not consent to recording.”
Another silence.
Then Celeste:
“Five million.”
Adrian almost laughed.
Exact echo of Charles.
“No.”
“Three.”
“No.”
“Adrian—”
“You don’t get to negotiate my fear.”
That stopped her.
Then he said:
“Release whatever you think gives you power.”
Celeste hung up.
Adrian’s hands shook afterward.
Courage did not mean calm.
It meant refusing anyway.
He told communications team to prepare for privacy violation.
No denial.
No shame strategy.
If something leaked, statement would be simple:
Private material was recorded and distributed without consent.
No details.
No pleading.
Celeste’s weapon required panic.
He would not supply it.
Then an anonymous account posted a blurred still.
Not explicit.
Enough to imply.
Adrian did not respond personally.
Lawyers moved.
Platform removed.
Investigators documented.
Celeste had crossed from threatened extortion to actual distribution.
That mistake would cost her later.
But she still was not finished.
Because someone else had copies.

Gavin Rourke.
And he was about to reveal why.
