Chapter 16 - VANESSA DIDN’T PLAN TO DESTROY HIM FOREVERThis is psychological chapter.

Vanessa with therapist/counsel perhaps no confession yet, inner perspective limited third-person? We can narrate.
She had not imagined blood.
Her plan, if admit inwardly to reader maybe reveal before characters? Since full story can. But suspense maybe gradually.
We can write POV where she tells herself she only needed enough doubt.
She had thought:
torn buttons.
tears.
accusation vague.
Daniel would send father away.
Richard steps aside.
Audit delayed.
Later she could soften:
“I don't want charges.”
“It was misunderstanding.”
“I just felt unsafe.”
She could control severity.
She underestimated Daniel’s temper.
When fist landed, she was shocked.
Then saw opportunity:
Richard physically humiliated.
Daniel more committed because action.
Cognitive dissonance makes him defend belief.
So she smiled.
Then Mason spoke.
This chapter could reveal to reader but maybe later confession. Better keep as inference from texts/counsel. We want tension. We can narrate Vanessa's internal? User wants story. Okay, maybe reveal partial: she knew she wanted Richard sidelined, but refuses label plan. Keep ambiguity.
Therapist asks:
“Did you want Richard arrested?”
“No.”
“Removed from board?”
“Yes.”
“Did you believe accusation would accomplish?”
Silence.
“Vanessa?”
“I thought Daniel would make him leave house.”
“And board?”
“I thought everything would pause.”
There.
Partial.
“Did you lie about assault?”
She stops.
