Chapter 22 - VANESSA FINALLY STOPS DENYING EVERYTHINGConfession in mediated setting.

She says Richard never sexually touched her.

He did not grab.

She staged.

Why?

Audit, humiliation, years of being treated outsider, fear losing foundation role, resentment that Daniel always defaulted to father's authority when stakes high—though facts show often he sided wife. Her perception.

She wanted scene plausible enough to make Daniel demand Richard step aside.

She deliberately chose vague “tried to take advantage of me” because it would sound terrible without specific allegation she later might retract.

Dark, calculated.

She says:

“I thought I could say I panicked. I thought after audit passed, I could tell him I didn’t want anything done.”

Richard:

“You were going to let everyone think.”

Vanessa:

“For a while.”

Daniel horrified.

“Did you expect me to hit him?”

“No.”

“Did you know I might?”

“I knew you’d be angry.”

“Answer.”

“No. I swear.”

Likely true.

Then Daniel:

“You smiled.”

She cries.

“Because after you hit him, I thought you’d never question me. I was wrong.”

That is devastating.

Richard says:

“You didn't ask him to choose you. You made him believe he had to destroy me to prove it.”

Strong.

Vanessa says:

“I wanted you off board.”

Richard:

“You were willing to stain my name to keep a vendor.”

Vanessa:

“It wasn't just vendor.”

She explains identity/status. Still no excuse.

Maybe no criminal false report because no police complaint? She made family allegation. Civil defamation potential. Consequences.
