Chapter 18 - THE USB HE STOLE WAS EMPTY

During the fire alarm, Julian took the USB from my apron.
At least, he believed he did.
The drive I showed in the lobby was a duplicate shell.
No files.
Only a text document.
TOO LATE.
The genuine USB had been transferred to the hotel compliance director before the alarm.
I did not create the decoy alone.
Police approved it after Julian’s threatening message.
When he opened the false drive near the server room, a location beacon activated.
That helped security find him.
Julian looked at me after arrest.
“You learned.”
“No.”
I looked at the officers around us.
“I stopped trying to face you alone.”
