Chapter 17 - SABRINA’S BIGGEST MISTAKESabrina’s patience ended.

She cornered Dorothy in the kitchen.

“You’re enjoying this.”

Dorothy looked up.

“Enjoying what?”

“Watching Cole suffer.”

“No.”

“You changed everything.”

“I corrected what needed correcting.”

“You made Jonah the favorite.”

“No.”

“You froze us out.”

Dorothy remained calm.

Sabrina’s voice rose.

“You use money to control everyone.”

Dorothy stared.

Then smiled.

“Interesting.”

“What?”

“You think I’m controlling people by refusing to give you my property.”

“That’s not what I said.”

“It is.”

Sabrina folded her arms.

“You know Cole expected the house.”

“Expected.”

“Yes.”

“Did I promise it?”

“No.”

“Then expectation became entitlement.”

“You’re twisting words.”

Dorothy stood.

“If Rosehaven were worth fifty thousand dollars, would you still be asking me to leave?”

Sabrina froze.

Dorothy stepped closer.

“If this house had no equity, no prestige, no value beyond being the place I love—would you still think it was too big for me?”

Sabrina opened her mouth.

Nothing.

Dorothy nodded.

“That is the answer.”

Sabrina’s face reddened.

“You think you’re better than me.”

“No.”

Dorothy looked tired now.

“I think you forgot I am alive.”

That sentence finally silenced her.
