Chapter 20 - DOROTHY DOESN’T THROW THEM INTO THE STREETDorothy could have demanded they leave that night.

She didn’t.

Rosehaven was hers.

But dignity mattered more than spectacle.

She asked Henry to draft a formal occupancy notice.

Thirty days.

Enough time for Cole and Sabrina to finish their condo renovation or arrange another place.

Sabrina was furious.

“You’re evicting your son.”

Dorothy shook her head.

“I am ending an informal living arrangement.”

“You sound like a lawyer.”

“I hired one.”

Cole remained quiet.

Sabrina turned on him.

“Say something.”

He looked at Dorothy.

Then Sabrina.

“No.”

Sabrina stared.

“No what?”

“I’m not fighting this.”

“You’re serious?”

“It’s her house.”

Sabrina laughed bitterly.

“Oh, now you remember.”

Cole flinched.

Dorothy did not enjoy it.

She handed them the notice.

“I’m not removing you because I hate you.”

Cole looked at her.

“I’m removing the assumption that you own what is mine.”

Sabrina stormed upstairs.

Cole remained.

“Mom.”

“Yes?”

“I’m sorry.”

Dorothy nodded.

“Use the thirty days well.”

It was not forgiveness.

May you like

It was boundary.

And for once, Dorothy did not apologize for setting one.
