Chapter 21 - WHEN SABRINA REALIZES THERE IS NO HOUSEWithout Rosehaven in the equation, Sabrina and Cole’s marriage changed quickly.

The condo renovation stalled.

Their debt remained.

The larger home Sabrina wanted became impossible.

One night Dorothy heard them arguing upstairs.

“You told me this house would be yours.”

Cole answered:

“I said someday.”

“You said she would never leave it to Jonah.”

“I was wrong.”

“You said once she got older—”

Cole’s voice sharpened.

“Stop.”

“What?”

“Listen to what we’re saying.”

Silence.

Then Sabrina:

“You’re blaming me now?”

“No.”

“You are.”

“I’m blaming myself too.”

Dorothy stood in the hallway below.

She did not move closer.

Cole continued.

“I let you talk about Mom’s house like it was ours.”

“You talked that way first.”

Another silence.

Then:

“You’re right.”

Dorothy closed her eyes.

For once, her son accepted blame without bargaining.

Upstairs, something broke between husband and wife.

Not because Dorothy caused it.

Because the fantasy holding them together had lost one of its pillars.
