**The Confession**
Sophia finally agreed to cooperate.
She told Daniel everything.
Richard Vale had approached her weeks earlier.
He promised her money.
All she had to do was steal Emily's legal file.
Then make Emily appear unstable.
The attack was supposed to be staged as an accident.
Sophia was never supposed to fall herself.
That part had been her own idea.
"I panicked," she admitted.
"I wanted everyone to believe Emily attacked me."
Daniel asked,
"Who deleted the footage?"
"Mark."
"Why?"
"Richard paid him."
Daniel leaned back.
"So Richard planned everything."
Sophia nodded.
"But there was one thing I didn't know."
"What?"
"Richard wasn't only after the inheritance."
Daniel stared at her.
"Then what?"
Sophia's voice dropped.
"He wanted something hidden in the file."
"What?"
"I never saw it."
Daniel knew they were close.
Very close.
But before he could ask another question...
Sophia's phone rang.
The screen showed an unknown number.
She answered.
A voice said only five words.
"You should have stayed silent."
The call ended.
Sophia looked at Daniel.
"He knows."
Daniel immediately stood.
"Lock down this building."
But somewhere outside...
A black car had already disappeared into the night.
