**The Dead Man's Secret**

Daniel reopened Emily's father's old case files.
There had been an unexplained financial transfer three years before his
death.
Millions of dollars.
The money had disappeared through several shell companies.
Richard Vale had represented the family during that period.
Daniel contacted a financial investigator.
Within hours, they found the connection.
The money had eventually moved into an offshore account controlled by a
company owned by Richard.
But that wasn't the biggest secret.
Emily's father had discovered the theft.
He had planned to expose Richard.
Then he died unexpectedly.
The official cause had been a heart attack.
Daniel looked at the old medical report.
Something bothered him.
There was no toxicology test.
He immediately requested an exhumation order.
If Richard had murdered Emily's father...
Then the inheritance wasn't simply about money.
It was about covering up a crime.
Daniel returned to Emily.
"You need to understand something."
Emily listened.
"Your father may not have died naturally."
She stared at him.
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying someone may have killed him."
Emily covered her mouth.
Then she remembered something from years earlier.
Her father had once told her:
"If anything ever happens to me, don't trust the man who says he was
protecting us."
At the time, she hadn't understood.
Now she knew exactly who he meant.
