Chapter 13 - GENEVA

Camille met Everett in a lawyer’s office overlooking Lake Geneva.
Federal observers? U.S. investigators coordinate Swiss authorities, but let's keep through attorneys. Her lawyer present.
Everett looked older in two weeks.
He hugged.
She stood stiff.
“You look terrible.”
“Thanks.”
“Julian?”
“Not your concern.”
Everett poured water.
“You gave them emails.”
“Yes.”
“You’re destroying me.”
“You fled.”
“I protected assets.”
“From subpoenas.”
“From chaos.”
Same words.
Camille said:
“Tell me about Helena.”
Everett sighed.
“Grant ordered Silas to stop.”
“I knew.”
“I told him it was bad idea.”
“Did you meet Helena in garage?”
He looked.
“How know?”
“Records.”
Everett closed eyes.
“Yes.”
“What happened?”
Helena confronted him.
She had evidence of Prescott-Hawthorne property deals.
She said she would disclose to board and attorney general.
Everett begged her not to.
Why?
Some deals used advance zoning information from a consultant close to mayor’s office. Potential insider/public corruption exposure.
Everett feared losing company.
He offered settlement.
Helena refused.
Then Silas appeared.
Everett heard him say car “wouldn’t make city.”
He understood sabotage meant breakdown, not crash.
Did he stop?
No.
“Why?”
“I thought she’d be stranded.”
“We’d retrieve documents.”
Camille stared.
“You let a woman drive car you knew had been tampered.”
“I didn’t know dangerous.”
“You didn’t ask.”
He looked away.
Correct.
Then after crash, Grant called.
Everett returned to estate.
Silas confessed line failed.
Grant panicked.
They made decision:
clean logs.
call accident.
pay Ralph.
keep Rebecca quiet.
preserve trust restatement.
Everett admitted.
Not direct murderer.
Accessory cover.
Obstruction.
Fraud.
Why flee?
He had kept copy of Grant email after crash:
No one intended this. We protect Julian from knowing what his mother was doing and protect company from Silas’s stupidity. Trust papers remain as executed. Do not reopen.
This implicated Grant in cover and trust fraud.
Everett wanted immunity/reduced charges.
He would cooperate.
Camille asked:
“Why tell me?”
“Because you’re daughter.”
“No.”
“Why now?”
“Because Grant will blame me.”
There.
Self-preservation.
Not love alone.
Camille laughed sadly.
“Finally honest.”
Then father handed folder.
“Take.”
“Why not counsel?”
“I don’t trust them.”
Camille did not touch.
“I learned something.”
“What?”
“I don’t carry evidence for men anymore.”
She made lawyer collect.
Everett stared.
Maybe saw change.
Before leaving he said:
“I’m sorry about Julian.”
Camille turned.
“Are you?”
“I wanted you secure.”
“You wanted Prescott secure.”
“Same.”
“No.”
She left.
Back U.S., Everett negotiated return.
He surrendered passport.
Entered plea discussions.
Grant denied email context.
Silas admitted more.
Major twist now: no single mastermind murder.
A chain of entitled decisions created death.
Grant ordered stop.
Silas sabotaged.
Everett knew and failed.
They covered.
Emotionally strong.
Julian struggled because there was no satisfying “father murdered mother” clarity.
Nora said:
“Maybe worse.”
“Everyone did one thing and told themselves it wasn’t the thing.”
He nodded.
Systemic guilt.
Then corporate.
Original trust validated by court.
Julian legally recognized controlling voting rights retroactive? The court might not unwind everything automatically, but declared Grant lacked authority after Julian 25. Independent review determined actions remain valid under apparent authority to protect third parties, but Grant personally liable for some. Good.
Julian gained control now.
He could fire father from all roles.
He did.
No dramatic security.
Formal board vote.
Grant retained personal shares and wealth, not office.
He moved out of Alderwyn? Estate owned trust maybe Julian. Julian offered reasonable transition.
Grant said:
“You’re evicting father.”
“No.”
“You have six months.”
“Standard executive residence transition.”
Grant laughed bitterly.
“Nora taught you HR language?”
“Actually yes.”
Julian had grown.
Then romance deepened.
Nora invited Julian to her small apartment for dinner.
No staff.
Pasta.
Wine.
He washed dishes.
They kissed.
Longer.
Nora stopped.
“Are we ready?”
He knew what she meant.
Physical intimacy beyond kisses.
He wanted.
“Do you want?”
“Yes.”
“Then why stop?”
“Because tomorrow I testify in trust hearing.”
“I don’t want to wonder if I crossed line before.”
Julian’s desire turned respect.
“Okay.”
He kissed forehead.
She laughed.
“Do not be noble and smug.”
“I’m suffering.”
“Good.”
Adult tension.
After hearing next week, Nora no longer key financial witness? She still death witness but less direct. Power concerns remain but manageable.
She chose.
They spent night together.
No graphic detail.
Morning Nora woke in his shirt, rolled eyes at cliché.
Julian made coffee badly.
She teased.
Then phone.
Camille.
Nora answered? Why Camille calling Nora maybe concerning father plea. Could be. She sees Julian there? No.
Camille says:
“I need to tell you something before press does.”
“What?”
“I’m pregnant.”
Nora froze.
“Julian’s?”
Silence.
“No.”
Nora looked at Julian.
Camille continued:
“Elias.”
Major adult drama.
Timeline? One-night affair ~9 months? Engagement proposal 8 months ago. If pregnant now from affair, impossible unless current. Maybe Camille and Elias had another encounter recently, contradicting one-time. Better not. Or pregnancy from a more recent relapse after engagement party? Could reveal they slept together again 6 weeks before party. Then lie. Need timeline. Let's modify: Camille/Elias said one physical night, but could have happened again weeks before engagement party. That would deepen betrayal. She now pregnant ~7 weeks. She lied. User wanted 18+. This could be major. Let's use.
Nora:
“You said one night.”
Camille:
“I lied.”
“It happened again six weeks before party.”
“I hadn’t known pregnancy until yesterday.”
Does Elias know?
No.
This complicates but not child sexualization. Adult.
Camille asks Nora not to tell Julian? But she calls Nora knowing Julian maybe there? She wants tell herself. Nora says:
“You need tell him because press may imply his.”
Camille agrees.
Julian hears only Nora side maybe recognizes.
Nora hangs.
Julian:
“What?”
She says:
“Camille needs tell you herself.”
He is frustrated but respects.
Camille later tells.
Julian feels betrayal renewed but also relief paternity not his. He hadn't had sex with Camille after? Wait if 6 weeks before party, Julian and Camille likely sexually active. Pregnancy paternity uncertain then. Need DNA later. That brings adult paternity uncertainty. Camille says she was with Julian in window too. So not sure father. Great.
Julian goes pale.
“Could be mine?”
“Yes.”
He sits.
Nora later supports but does not center self.
Paternity test prenatal? Noninvasive from maternal blood and alleged father. They can do after 7 weeks. Julian agrees for clarity. Elias too? Could test one. Results: Elias father. This creates consequences but not current romance derail too much.
Nora feels weird; Julian could have child with ex. She admits jealousy and fear. They handle adult.
This is lots 18+.

Let's continue. Need 12 more chapters after 13. Already huge but okay. Need >1000 each. Some chapters currently perhaps ~1100. Continue similarly.
