Rachel cried.

“Of what?”
“That you’d always feel second.”
Lucas frowned.
“I didn’t.”
Rachel stared.
The entire project had been built partly around a fear Lucas did not even have until she taught it.
She had tried to protect him from rejection by manufacturing competition.
In doing so, she made him hurt his sister.
