Chapter 13 - WHAT BRANDON NEVER TOLD HERBrandon finally brought documents.

Not lawyers.
Not PR.
Documents.
He sat at Natalie’s dining table.
“I should have told you years ago.”
He explained Victor’s interventions.
Natalie listened.
Then another truth.
Hale investor presentation had referred to:
Strategic alignment with Foster family interests.
Natalie’s marriage was part implied stability.
No false signatures.
No fraud.
But her family identity had commercial value.
“Did you approve this?”
“Yes.”
“Did Victor?”
“Not wording.”
“Did you tell me?”
“No.”
Natalie leaned back.
“Why?”
“Because Mom hated idea we needed Foster help.”
“So you protected her pride.”
“Yes.”
“At my expense.”
Brandon looked confused.
“How?”
“She told me for years I brought nothing into Hale family.”
“She told guests I was lucky to have this life.”
“She made me feel like dependent wife.”
“You knew company was using my family name.”
Brandon closed eyes.
“Yes.”
Natalie’s anger rose.
“You let her humiliate me with lie because truth would embarrass her.”
He had no defense.
This was worse than birthday.
That was one night.
This was structure.
Brandon whispered:
“I’m sorry.”
Natalie stood.
“Go.”
He looked up.
“Natalie—”
“Go.”
He left.
No Victor needed.
Natalie locked door.
Cried alone.
Later she called brother.
He answered.
“Where are you?”
That old question.
She laughed through tears.
“My house.”
“Need me?”
“No.”
“Okay.”
“Can you stay on phone?”
“Yes.”
May you like
They said nothing for twelve minutes.
That was protection too.
