Richard's Hidden Confession

Daniel admitted that he had been manipulating everyone.
He had survived the car accident twenty years earlier.
But he had returned only after discovering that Richard had hidden evidence against Victor.
"Why did you poison him?"
Henry demanded.
"I didn't."
Daniel pointed toward the flash drive.
"The real evidence is missing."
Henry frowned.
"What evidence?"
"Your grandfather recorded the entire conspiracy."
"Where?"
Daniel looked at Leo.
"The lion knows."
Henry stared at the animal.
Daniel explained that Richard had trained Leo to respond to a specific whistle.
Whenever Richard used it, Leo would lead him to a hidden location.
Richard had used that system to hide important objects.
Henry followed Leo into the garden.
The lion walked toward an old stone fountain.
He scratched the ground.
Henry dug.
A metal box appeared.
Inside was a recorder.
Henry pressed play.
Richard's voice filled the air.
"If you're hearing this, I've failed to protect everyone."
Henry listened.
Richard revealed the truth.
Victor had stolen money.
Thomas had been forced to cooperate.
Henry's mother had tried to expose the scheme.
Daniel had survived the accident.
But the final betrayal came from someone else.
Richard whispered one name.
"Ethan."
Henry looked up.
The security officer stood behind them.
Ethan's face was expressionless.
Richard's recording continued.
"Ethan arranged my father's death."
Henry's blood went cold.
Then the recording stopped.
Ethan reached for his weapon.
Leo stepped between him and Henry.
Ethan smiled.
"Good boy."
The same phrase Richard had used when Leo was a cub.
Henry suddenly understood.

Ethan had been close to Richard for twenty years.
And he had been waiting for this moment.
