After Victoria was taken away, the Harrison family remained together in the living room.
No one spoke for several minutes.

His mother quietly wiped away tears.

David placed a comforting hand on his aunt's shoulder.

That afternoon, every family member visited Emily at the hospital.
They apologized one by one.
Emily listened quietly.
She held no anger.
Only exhaustion.
Ethan sat beside her bed holding her hand.
"Our family almost lost everything."
Emily looked toward the ultrasound photograph on the bedside table.
"But we didn't."
The baby kicked gently.
Both of them smiled.
Outside the room, Detective Mitchell approached Ethan.
"The district attorney will prosecute."
"Victoria won't be walking away from this."
Ethan nodded.
"I don't want revenge."
"I want justice."
