# A Fall at Sunset

## Chapter 4 — The Second Fall

Emily slowly pushed herself upright with Victoria's support.

Every movement sent sharp pain through her body.

She could barely stand.

Guests watched anxiously.

"Ethan's almost here," someone shouted.

Victoria tightened her grip around Emily's arm.

"Lean on me."

Emily nodded weakly.

She trusted her completely.

They took one careful step.

Then another.

Emily finally believed she was safe.

Without warning...

Victoria released both hands.

Completely.

Emily's body immediately lost balance.

She had no strength left to catch herself.

She crashed onto the stone steps a second time.

A louder scream tore through the garden.

Several guests froze in disbelief.

This fall looked different.

It didn't feel accidental.

Emily cried out in agony.

She curled around her stomach.

Tears streamed down her face.

"My baby..."

Someone whispered,

"Did she just..."

Another guest answered,

"No..."

"I must've imagined it."

Victoria immediately reached toward Emily again.

Pretending to panic.

Pretending to help.

But one pair of eyes had seen everything.

Ethan Harrison.
