Chapter 24 - THE CLIENT WHO CHOSE GRANTCallahan Industries held annual meeting.

Henry announced Grant’s division had exceeded projections by eighteen percent.

Applause.

Grant felt strange.

He had received bigger applause at Montgomery.

This one felt earned.

After meeting, representative from old Montgomery client approached.

“Mr. Montgomery.”

“Grant.”

“We’re reviewing suppliers.”

Grant’s expression remained neutral.

“You currently work with Montgomery Group.”

“Yes.”

“We’d like proposal from Callahan.”

“Why?”

The man smiled.

“Because you’re here.”

Grant paused.

This was exact moment Beatrice feared.

But Grant refused exploit confidential knowledge.

“If we bid, it will be clean.”

“New terms.”

“No Montgomery proprietary information.”

“Understood.”

The man nodded.

“That’s why we’re asking you.”

Grant realized integrity had become asset.

Not surname.

At home he told Audra.

She kissed him.

“Proud?”

“Terrified.”

“Good.”

“Why good?”

“Means you care.”

Caleb walked in.

“Dad, can you help with volcano?”

Grant looked at laptop.

Proposal worth millions.

Then at son.

“Yeah.”

He closed laptop.
