Benjamin looked across the conference table.
"Legally..."
"Victoria has violated multiple conditions written into Sarah's estate."
Daniel nodded.
"What happens now?"
Benjamin answered honestly.
"She loses every claim to the Carter Family Trust."
Daniel looked toward the mansion through the office window.
"I should have noticed."
Benjamin remained silent.
Daniel continued.
"I thought providing money was enough."
"I thought giving Lily a beautiful home made me a good father."
He laughed bitterly.
"I never asked whether she felt safe inside it."
Benjamin quietly replied,
"Children rarely tell the truth..."

Daniel lowered his head.
He finally understood.
