The Voice on the Tape

The coffin was examined again.
This time, Atlas was allowed inside the preparation room.
The dog approached slowly.
He sniffed the coffin.
Then scratched one corner.
Henry looked underneath.
A tiny speaker had been attached to the bottom.
Samuel stared.
"That's the signal."
William had hidden a recording device.
It contained a message.
But why?
Henry activated it.
William's voice returned.
"If this recording is playing, someone has discovered the truth."
"I need you to understand something."
"The evidence isn't inside the coffin."
"It's beneath the place where I will be buried."
Henry looked at the open grave.
Edward's face changed.
"The cemetery."
William continued.
"Trust Atlas."
"Trust Titan."
"But do not trust anyone wearing a military medal from Black Ridge."
The recording stopped.
Everyone looked at each other.
Several veterans were standing outside.
Some wore Black Ridge medals.
One of them had already disappeared.
Victor Hale.
Henry realized the funeral had never been a coincidence.
Victor had come to retrieve something.
But what?
The answer came when Atlas began walking toward the grave.
He stopped at a specific point.
Titan joined him.
Henry grabbed a shovel.
They began digging.
After several feet...
Metal struck metal.
A steel container appeared beneath the earth.
Inside was a hard drive.
And a handwritten note.
Henry opened it.
One sentence.
**THIS IS THE PROOF THEY KILLED FOR.**
