The Missing Military Report

Police searched the backyard.

Nobody was found.

But footprints were discovered near the fence.

The person had been standing there for several minutes.

Henry couldn't sleep.

He returned to William's military records.

One document was missing.

The Black Ridge final report.

The report should have contained the complete explanation of the mission.

Instead, only the first twelve pages remained.

Pages thirteen through twenty-seven were gone.

Samuel examined the file.

"This isn't normal."

"Could Grandpa have removed them?"

"No."

"How do you know?"

"William always numbered his documents."

Henry noticed something.

Page twelve ended with a sentence.

"At 03:40, the surviving team reported..."

Then nothing.

Henry looked at Samuel.

"Reported what?"

"We need the missing pages."

Samuel called an old military contact.

The answer was disturbing.

The original report had been sealed.

Not by the military.

By a special committee.

A committee that no longer existed.

Henry asked,

"Who signed the order?"

The contact hesitated.

Then gave him a name.

**General Thomas Whitaker.**

Samuel knew the name.

He stood immediately.

"Whitaker was at Black Ridge."

"Was he one of the commanders?"

"No."

"Then why did he have authority over the report?"

Samuel's expression hardened.

"Because he wasn't supposed to be there."

Henry realized something.

The people involved weren't simply hiding a battlefield mistake.

They were hiding an operation that had never officially existed.

And William had spent twenty years trying to expose it.

Then Henry discovered something even stranger.

The missing pages had been requested from the military archive only one week ago.

Someone was looking for them.

Someone who knew William was dead.
