The Truth About Captain Dawson

Michael Reed finally appeared.

He walked into the federal building carrying an old military bag.

Samuel saw him first.

He couldn't move.

Michael looked older.

His hair was gray.

His face was scarred.

But Samuel recognized his son immediately.

"My boy."

Michael embraced him.

Neither spoke for several seconds.

Henry watched quietly.

Then Michael told them the truth.

He had survived Black Ridge.

William had found him.

For twenty years, they had worked together.

They gathered evidence.

They exposed financial networks.

They identified the people responsible.

But William knew he was running out of time.

"He knew they would kill him," Michael said.

Henry asked,

"Why didn't he tell us?"

"Because he wanted you alive."

Michael explained that William had created the final plan.

The dogs were part of it.

Atlas had been trained to recognize a specific emergency signal.

Titan had been trained to protect Atlas.

The coffin contained the signal device.

The grave contained the evidence.

And Colonel Samuel had been given the final key.

Everything had been designed to activate after William's death.

Henry stared at the old dog.

Atlas looked back at him.

Suddenly Henry understood.

His grandfather had never left them helpless.

He had left them a mission.

Michael reached into his military bag.

He removed one final photograph.

Rachel was standing beside him.

"She's alive."

"Where?"

Michael smiled.

"She's been helping us."

Henry looked at him.

"Where is she?"

The door behind them opened.

A woman stepped inside.

Henry stared.

"Rachel?"
