Chapter 17 — Lily Is Honored for Her Courage
# The Little Girl Who Told the Truth
## Chapter 17 — Lily Is Honored for Her Courage
Several months later, Beverly Hills City Hall held a small ceremony honoring ordinary citizens who had shown extraordinary courage.
Among them was seven-year-old Lily.
Still wearing her favorite pink dress, she nervously walked onto the stage holding her mother's hand.
Mayor Rebecca Owens smiled warmly.
"Lily..."
"Because you chose honesty over silence..."
"You helped protect an innocent mother and her child."
The audience stood and applauded.
Emily, carrying her baby boy, wiped tears from her eyes.
After receiving her certificate, Lily quietly walked toward Emily.
"I just told the truth."
Emily hugged her gently.
"You saved my son's life."
Lily looked down at the sleeping baby.
"He looks happy."
Emily smiled.
"He gets to be happy because of you."
The photographers captured the moment.
By the next morning, newspapers across California carried the same headline:
**'Seven-Year-Old Girl's Courage Brings Justice.'**
