Chapter 3 — The Perfect Performance

# The Little Girl Who Told the Truth
## Chapter 3 — The Perfect Performance
Within moments, shoppers came running from every direction.
Several women rushed toward Emily.
Others hurried to help Sophia.
Emily lay curled on the cold marble floor, her face pale with pain.
She tried to sit up.
Couldn't.
Another sharp pain spread through her abdomen.
Nearby, Sophia began sobbing.
She held her wrist dramatically.
"I think it's broken!"
Then she pointed directly at Emily.
"She pushed me first!"
The crowd immediately looked confused.
Several people exchanged uncertain glances.
One shopper frowned.
"But she's pregnant..."
Sophia cried even harder.
"I only tried to protect myself."
"I lost my balance."
The performance was flawless.
Her tears looked genuine.
Her breathing sounded panicked.
Anyone who had arrived after the fall would naturally assume Emily had caused the accident.
Emily struggled to speak.
"No..."
Her voice barely escaped.
"I didn't..."
But another wave of pain stole her words.
A nurse who happened to be shopping nearby knelt beside her.
"Don't move."
"An ambulance is coming."
Emily closed her eyes.
She knew exactly what had happened.
She remembered the violent shove.
She remembered Sophia's expression just before it happened.
But at that moment...
No one seemed willing to believe her.
