One year later, Emily returned to the same shopping mall.

"I'm ready."
David squeezed her hand.
Together they entered the atrium.
Several store employees recognized Emily from the news.
One older security guard approached.
"It's good to see you back."
Emily thanked him.
"I'm not here to remember what happened."
"I'm here to prove it no longer controls my life."
They spent the afternoon shopping for their son's first birthday.
They laughed.
Took family photos.
Shared ice cream together near the fountain.
The same place where tragedy had once begun had become a place of healing.
