Season 2 Chapter 5 — The Child Erased From History

Darkness swallowed the evidence warehouse.

Emergency lights failed to activate.

Only the faint glow from Ethan's phone illuminated the room.

"Lucas?"

"I'm still here," Lucas whispered. "Listen carefully."

"What's happening?"

"They've been watching every piece of evidence connected to your father."

Ethan's grip tightened around the notebook.

"You mean someone is inside the building?"

Before Lucas could answer...

glass shattered somewhere in the distance.

Then footsteps.

Slow.

Deliberate.

Someone else was inside.

Ethan immediately hid behind a storage shelf.

The footsteps grew louder.

He held his breath.

A flashlight beam swept across the room.

Then disappeared.

Several agonizing seconds passed before silence returned.

"Ethan?" Lucas whispered through the phone.

"I'm alright."

"You have to get out."

"What aren't you telling me?"

Lucas hesitated.

Finally he spoke.

"I recognized the name Eleanor."

Ethan froze.

"You know who she is?"

"My father mentioned her once."

"What did he say?"

"Only this..."

Lucas inhaled deeply.

"She was the only founder who betrayed the organization."

Ethan looked again at Richard's notebook.

**He never forgave Eleanor.**

The sentence suddenly carried a different meaning.

Richard hadn't hated her because of love.

He hated her because she betrayed them.

---

Ethan escaped through a rear service exit just as security officers rushed into the building.

No intruder was ever found.

Yet one box inside the archive room had disappeared.

The box labeled...

**1989.**

Back at the mansion, Daniel compared the inventory list with Ethan's father's archive.

"What was stored in 1989?"

Daniel's expression slowly changed.

"Oh no..."

"What?"

"That's the year your father withdrew from the Ashcroft Initiative."

"So?"

Daniel looked at him.

"If someone stole that box..."

"They're trying to erase history."

Daniel nodded.

"Or recover something your father hid."

Before either man could continue, the mansion's security alarm activated.

The front gate camera switched on automatically.

A woman stood alone outside the property.

She wore a dark coat.

Silver hair framed her face.

She looked directly into the camera.

Not frightened.

Not nervous.

Almost... familiar.

The security guard called Ethan immediately.

"Sir... she refuses to leave."

"What does she want?"

The guard swallowed.

"She says..."

"...tell Ethan Harrison that Eleanor has finally come home."

Ethan stared at the monitor.

The woman looked into the camera...

and smiled.
