Season 2 Chapter 11 — The Council Behind Every Empire

The five keys rested side by side on Ethan Harrison's desk.
For the first time in twenty-six years...
the complete set had been reunited.
Daniel looked at them in silence.
"So this is it."
Lucas nodded.
"We finally learn what Michael Harrison died protecting."
Eleanor didn't answer.
She looked frightened.
"As soon as we open that vault..."
"There will be no going back."
---
That night the four of them returned to the abandoned observatory.
The underground chamber felt colder than before.
Almost waiting.
One by one...
the keys turned inside the massive steel safe.
First...
Eleanor's.
Second...
Lucas's.
Third...
Richard's copied key.
Fourth...
Victoria's original.
Finally...
Ethan inserted the last key inherited from his father.
A deep metallic rumble echoed through the vault.
The safe door slowly opened.
Inside there was no gold.
No diamonds.
No fortune.
Only a single black archive box.
Across its lid...
one name.
**THE CHAIRMAN**
Ethan carefully lifted the cover.
Inside lay hundreds of photographs.
Financial records.
Government files.
Newspaper clippings.
Everything documenting twenty-five years of manipulation.
At the very bottom rested a sealed envelope addressed to Ethan.
He opened it immediately.
Inside was a letter written by his father.
*"If this box has been opened... then the Chairman has already failed."*
Ethan smiled for the first time in weeks.
His father had won.
Then Daniel quietly picked up the final item inside the box.
A recent photograph.
Not twenty years old.
Not even one year old.
Taken only three weeks earlier.
It showed Ethan...
standing outside his own company headquarters.
Someone had been watching him long after Richard's arrest.
Long after Blackwood collapsed.
Long after the war was supposed to be over.
On the back of the photograph...
one sentence had been typed.
**"You've opened the wrong vault."**
